The south gate in Lijiang at night

From Dalí we went straight on to Shangri-la in order to arrange our trip to Tibet. We needed to do that as soon as possible, since the Chinese authorities were a real pain in the ass with all their restrictive regulations and extra permits. Now who was saying Tibet is China...? Still we needed additional permits. Anyhow, we shopped around and negotiated about the price and made quite a nice deal. After that we were free to go and visit the city of Lijiang that is located a couple of hours south of Shangri-la, where we spent a couple of days.

My girlfriend's foot had become a serious problem and she could hardly walk, but still we managed to see a bit of the town. It was terribly touristic of course, but still it's a quite nice place. We stayed in an old inn for the incredible amount of 80 RMB per night and found out on leaving that would have had incredibly cheap lunches, breakfasts and dinners as well!
